Jaipur, the "Pink City" and also called "Paris of India" was founded on 18th November 1727 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, a Kachawaha Rajput, who ruled on Jaipur State from 1699-1744. Other public buildings include a museum and a library. Jaipur is the seat of the University of Rajasthan, founded in 1947.
