AJMER (An Introduction) 

 

Ajmer (Rajasthan) is one of the oldest city of Rajasthan was earlier called as "Ajayameru Nagar" the place of Maharaja Ajayraj  Singh who established Ajmer aroud 12th Century. It has been made with two words i.e. Ajay (The name of King who established Ajmer) and Meru (Means Mountain). It is also famous for the Dargah of Khwaja Moin-u-ddin Chisti and Brahma Temple situated in Pushkar. Tourists from all over India and accross the world  come to Ajmer and Pushkar to visit both the above mentioned places of worship. 

Ajmer is well connected with other major cities of Rajasthan including Jaipur (the capital of Rajasthan) by Road, Rail and Air Transport, you can use any mode of transport for your transport to arrive Ajmer or to go any destinations from Ajmer. Buses and Trains for all States remain always available from Ajmer Bus / Railway Stations. In addition to above 05 Major Airports of Rajasthan are situated nearby Ajmer. The nearest Airport is Kishangarh Airport just 30 kms away from Ajmer and 2nd One is Sanganer Airort Jaipur is just 150 Kms away. Four famous Towns of Rajasthan fall under the jurisdiction of Ajmer district viz Kishangarh is famous for Marble and Grenites, Pushkar is famous for Brahma Temple, Nasirabad is having the one of the oldest Army Cant established at the time of Britishers and Beawar famous for various Cement Factories.

Place of Tourist Interest in Ajmer and Pushkar:-

If you are coming to Ajmer, you can spent 2 or 3 Days in Ajmer and may like to following places of Tourist Interest:-

• Brahma Temple Pushkar :- Jagatpita Brahma Mandir is situated in Pushkar Rajasthan and closed to the sacred Pushkar Lake. The Temple is the one of existing temples of Jagatpita Brahma who has created the world according to Hindu Religion.  The Temple was constructed around 14th Century and partly re-built later. 
• Ajmer Dargah Sharif -    The Tomb was been consstructed in 13th Centuary in the Memory of a Sufi Saint Hazarat Moin-u-ddin Chisti when Iltutmish was the Sultan of Delhi, After this maximum Sultans of Delhi inclding Razia Sultana, Akmer (The Emperor of Delhi) visit around 14 Times to this famous Dargah, Jahangir, Shahjahan, Muhammad Bin Tuglaq and Sher Sah Sure had also visited this famous Tomb in ther times.  ?
• Ana Sagar Lake :- It is a artificial lake situated in the centre of Ajmer. The lake was built by Shri Arnoraja, the grandfather of Shri Prithviraj Chauhan in the year 1135-1150 AD. ?
• Soni Ji Ki  Nasiyan :- The famous Jain Temple of Ajmer called as Soniji Ki Nasiyan, is architectually rich Jain Temple, which was built in the late 19th Centuary. The main chamber of this Temple is call as "Swarna Nagri" i.e. "City of Gold" which has several gold plated wooden figures and several figures of Jain Religion. This golden chamber of the temple is made with 100 Kg gold to carve out a depiction of Ayodhya.   ?
• Nareli Jain Teerth :- Nareli Jain Temple is also called Shri Gyandoaya Tirth Kshetra, It is situated on the National Highway of Jaipur Ajmer Beawar (NH8) around 7 kms far from Ajmer City Centre.  
• Other Places to see in the Ajmer are Dhai Din ka Jhopda, Ajmer Musuem, Prathvi Raj Chauhan Smarak, Foy Sagar Lake, Brahma Temple Pushkar, Savitri Temple Pushkar.
